I LOVE annual family photo sessions. And this one is especially meaningful for me because it is in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people.
Andrew is my cousin (we’re just a couple months apart), and although he and his family live on the east coast, we often joke that we are living parallel lives. We have the same education, same job, same name, same hobbies, AND we vacation in the same location at the same time! Without planning it. What are the chances?!
So, for the second year in a row, I’ve gotten to capture the most precious little family in one of the most beautiful places. This is definitely a tradition I can get behind.
Guys, I am so spoiled and dare I say picky when it comes to my beach destinations. Having grown up in Northern Michigan, I have come to love that crystal clear blue water and beautiful sandy beaches that our area is known for (I’m looking at you, Torch Lake). So when I visited 30A for the first time last year, I was SHOOK. My first thought was that it was like Torch Lake in ocean form! The beaches are pristine- white, sugary sand and crystal clear GREEN water. It’s clear why they call it the Emerald Coast.
I genuinely can’t say enough wonderful things about the 30A area. Beautiful and family friendly, it really is the perfect destination for young families.
After having visited the 30A for a couple years now, I am happy to share some of my go to spots. Both times we have visited 30A, we stayed in the little town of Seagrove Beach, just east of Seaside. This stretch of 30A has the most public beach access points, which makes beach days a breeze. We booked an Airbnb hosted by Benchmark Management in the Cassine Village community, and it really was everything we could have wanted. Big gorgeous house, two community pools, pickleball courts, and walkable to coffee, ice cream, shopping, and most importantly, the beach.
Some of our favorite spots included: The Big Chill for dinner, drinks, and hangs (pro tip: check their event calendar to see what events that offer each night), Raw & Juicy for smoothies to sip as you wander your way through the gorgeous homes of Alys Beach (pro tip: be sure to check out their unique playground if you’re traveling with kids), Coastline 30A for drinks and great live music, and Chiringo in Grayton Beach if you’re craving some great food in a fun, casual atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a great family vacation spot, I highly recommend visiting Florida’s panhandle (specifically the 30A area).
